Brainy is back again, for the great science festival!

Can science, research and innovation be fun? How can we get in touch, inform and communicate scientific subjects in an attractive and comprehensible manner and what are the appropriate tools?

The answer to these questions comes through the communication of science, a term used to describe the process by which scientists and researchers share and communicate the results of their research in an understandable way, making them available to the general public. In this context, the Foundation for Research and Innovation (IDEK) has been organizing for the past 13 years, a great celebration dedicated to the communication of science, research and innovation on the "Researchers’ Night" for the last thirteen years. The event returns this year for a rich and creative evening and promises to provide answers and exciting moments for young and old alike.

Researchers, scientists and innovative entrepreneurs from the domestic academic and research institutes and businesses, under the coordination of the Foundation, do their best to project and communicate some of the most interesting scientific topics and present the latest scientific journals of science and research. Their partners in this endeavor are the great exhibition of interactive experiments, theatrical and musical events, games, discussions and contests. During the event, visitors have the opportunity to get to know the researchers and their work closely, participate in the activities, tour the experiments exhibition and unlock, along with Brainy, the event's central figure, the secrets of science and leave their own imprint….

The event, which is under the auspices of the President of the Republic will take place on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the "Philoxenia" Convention Center in Nicosia from 5:00 pm to 12:00 pm - free entrance. A key theme of this year's event, entitled "Human Era Night," is research in the field of life sciences. The  program also includes the "S-FACTOR" and "STEME" competitions in which students and adults respectively present a scientific phenomenon, in an original way, having the possibility of winning several presents . This year's event will also host for the first time a theatrical musical dance performance based on an award-winning children's book curated by renowned Cypriot researchers entitled "Journey to the Blue Circle".

The main aim of the "Researchers’ Night" is to highlight the role of researchers and the research activity carried out by Cypriot universities, research centers and innovative companies, to get to know and understand research and innovation issues as well as to foster a research and innovation culture. The event is a pan-European initiative, initiated by the European Commission since 2005, in more than 300 cities in more than 30 European countries, attracting thousands of visitors.
