The Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the JCI (Junior Chamber International) Lemesos were the co-organizers of a successful educational seminar on Eco-Innovation. The purpose of the seminar was to train and familiarize participants with the concept of sustainable (eco) technology. This was the second of six training sessions in the context of the Interreg BalkanMed CIDE NET (Creative and Innovation Driven Enterprises Network), in which the Chamber participates as a partner. CIDE-NET provides for targeted actions aiming for the most part to encourage companies to invest in and adopt innovative solutions to address competitiveness, business environment challenges and improve day-to-day organization and operation.
In a brief introductory greeting, JCI Lemesos Chairman Victor Iordanou expressed his thanks to the Limassol Chamber and the seminar trainers and pointed out that in line with its values and priorities, JCI supports actions that promote eco-innovation, sustainable development, the cyclical economy and environmental initiatives. Seminar participants had the opportunity to receive information on the development of skills in the implementation of Sustainable Ecological Innovation in their enterprises, with a particular focus on key areas such as: construction and operation of industries and the policies that make up successful sustainable innovation, combined with the interaction of supply and demand.
Reference was also been made to European policies and priorities, the benefits of using sustainable (eco-) innovation (indirectly and directly), as well as to various sectors such as agriculture, crop farming, environmental control, sustainable forestry, animal husbandry, aquaculture and tourism. In addition, the participants were provided with important information about the training of fire safety personnel at company level. The seminar was presented by innovation expert Christos Zachariades and the founder / CEO of Fire Safety Training Providers (Cyprus) Avgoustinos Hadjiyiannis. A brief presentation of Cide-Net was made by Limassol Chamber Senior Officer Nicolas Jordanou. The Limassol Chamber is a partner in targeted European programs such as Cide-Net, with a view to providing specialized services to its members and the wider business society.
