Limassol Chamber and Municipality intent on European funding

The Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Limassol Municipality are keen on stepping up bilateral cooperation in various fields, not least of which is that of European programmes, research, innovation and entrepreneurship. The readiness of the two sides to work in that direction was unequivocally expressed during a recent meeting of delegations of the two sides, headed by Mayor Nicos Nicolaides and Chamber President Costas Galatariotis.

The two sides highlighted their cooperation so far, pointing out that this has been instrumental in promoting the development of the city. At the same time, they stated their intention to make optimum use of European funding through joint participation in European projects. Both the Chamber and Municipality already possess the required know-how and what is now called for is closer coordination and a joint effort.

During the meeting, the two sides briefed each other on the programmes already underway and identified areas where a joint effort is very desirable, as in streamlining the business environment and promoting blue and green growth, in addition to energy, the environment, mobility and transport, as well as tourism. They also expressed interest in smart cities-related technologies.

The Mayor and the Chamber President agreed on the desirability of holding regular meetings to discuss pending projects and decide on future joint initiatives. To that end, the two sides are expected to conclude a formal cooperation protocol shortly.
